Dr. Elizabeth Hudgins
Elizabeth Hudgins has studied iconography with Peter Pearson at Washington
Theological Union and at Church of the Good Shepherd in Burke, Virginia.
In addition, she has taken four classes from Phil Zimmerman, master iconographer
at the St. John of Damascus Icon Studio. Two of the classes were taught
at Marywood College in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and one intermediate/advanced
and one advanced seminar were taught at the St. John of Damascus Icon Studio
at the Antiochian Village in Ligonier, Pennsylvania. Dr. Hudgins is a member
of the St. Lazarus Sacred Arts Guild and the Northern Virginia Sacred Arts
Society and has given classes, both group and individual, in iconography
in the Fairfax, VA, area. She has also helped at the St. John of
Damascus Icon Studio with a beginning class. In addition, she has
lectured for secular and Christian groups on the background and theology
of icons and iconography. Dr. Hudgins has recently had a book indexing
nearly 100 icon books published by Oakwood Press. She is currently
at work on a book on icons and iconography for people who are not Orthodox.
